3-Day Tanzania Bush Walk & Safari

Pickup: Your private guide collects you from your Arusha hotel or Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Drive: Approx. 2.5 hours through the Maasai steppe to Tarangire National Park.

Wildlife: Tarangire is famous for its massive elephant herds — often 300+ strong. You'll also encounter giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, lions, leopards, and over 500 bird species along the river.

Landscape: Ancient baobab trees dot the savannah, with the Tarangire River serving as the main water source — especially vital during the dry months.

Seasonal highlight: During the dry season (June–October), a mini wildlife migration of about 250,000 animals enters the park, giving it the highest concentration of mammals in Tanzania.

Bush walk: Late afternoon, embark on a guided bush walk with an armed ranger — tracking wildlife on foot, learning about animal tracks, local flora, and smaller creatures often missed during game drives.

Lunch: Picnic lunch at a scenic spot within the park.

Morning bush walk: Start with a second guided bush walk, observing wildlife and learning about the savanna ecosystem from your knowledgeable guide and armed ranger. This walking safari experience lets you track wildlife on foot, spotting birds, smaller mammals, and signs of large predators.

Transfer: After breakfast, drive through Karatu to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area — approx. 3–4 hours — enjoying scenic stops including highland vistas and local villages along the way.

Evening: Arrive at your lodge in the Ngorongoro highlands for dinner and overnight, with easy access to the crater for the next day's descent.

Early departure: After breakfast, depart for the crater — approx. 45 minutes to the descent road.

Crater descent: Descend 600 meters into the world's largest intact volcanic caldera — a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa.

Game-drive duration: Approx. 5–6 hours on the crater floor.

Big Five: This is the best place in East Africa to see the Big Five — lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino — in a single game drive. Over 25,000 animals inhabit the caldera.

Black rhino: Ngorongoro offers one of the best chances in Africa to see the critically endangered black rhino in the wild.

Hippo pool: Picnic lunch served at the hippo pool, where you can watch hippos wallowing while you eat.

Return: Late afternoon ascend the crater walls and drive back to Arusha — arriving by approximately 6 PM. Safari concludes with hotel or airport drop-off.
