Timing & Location

Understanding Herd Movement

The Great Serengeti Migration is the annual movement of wildebeest, Zebra, and Gazelle across the Serengeti ecosystem. River Crossings — Timing Is Critical

River crossings only happen from July to October in the north. Peak activity is usually August–September but exact timing varies with rainfall. Our guides track the herds daily.

Budgeting & Extra Costs

Taxes & Park Fees

Verify your quote includes the mandatory 18% Tanzania VAT and all Serengeti park transit fees. Some operators exclude these to appear cheaper. Our quotes include both.

Tipping Culture

Budget approximately $20–$30 per day for your guide and $10–$15 per day for camp staff. Tips are given at the end of your stay in cash (USD or Tanzanian shillings).

Single Supplements

If traveling alone on a private tour, a single supplement fee applies. We quote this transparently when you inquire.

Luggage Restrictions
